Temperament

Think of the movie "TWINS". In that movie Arnold Shwartzenegger and Danny DeVito are supposed to be twins.
Well the Min Pin is Danny DeVito , BUT it thinks it is really Arnold!

Min Pins are an assertive, outgoing, active , loving, affectionate and playful, independent breed.
The Miniature Pinscher is alert but can be wary, which should not be confused with timidity. He adjusts well to
people  of all ages and can become possessive of his owners and territory. The Miniature Pinscher is one of the
most energetic breeds. playful and brave ".

Min-Pins may be aggressive, but they are generally good with other house pets. We have a number of cats in our
household and they get treated to a "ritual quick chase" for about 30 seconds as soon as they come in from being
outside. Then everybody settles down and gets about their business.
They even sleep side by side on the sofa!

Miniature Pinschers can be good with children if the children are good with dogs! While a Miniature Pinscher will
tolerate a child, grabbing, pinching, sudden moves and aggressiveness will be met with defensive reactions.
While Min Pins are often referred to as "The King of Toys" , they are not kid's toys.

If you have very young, active children, you may want to look at larger, calmer breeds, such as the Golden Retriever,
     Labrador, or German Shepherd.

Min Pins are suited to all life styles, from apartment dwelling to outside farm living, young family to single companion.
His acute hearing makes him an extremely good little watchdog.
With the proper training, they can be the best companion dog you have ever owned.
The Miniature Pinscher makes its own rules, but will bend to yours if treated with affection and care.

The Miniature Pinscher is very often described as a "big dog in a little dog's body".

Here is a wonderful story by Mark E. Smith, that really drives that statement home.
